How To Install A Cavity Slider
Tools & Materials Needed

Spirit level
-
Wedges/shims (plastic or timber)

Drill and screws
-
Tape measure

Nail gun (optional)

Expanding foam (optional)

Packers
-
Soft close mechanism (if applicable)

Ensure the rough opening is 10–15 mm wider and taller than the cavity slider frame
-
Make sure opening is plumb and square
-
Remove any debris or obstructions from the opening
-
Check the floor is level across the width of the opening
-
-
Connect the end jamb/ closing jamb to the head of the unit
-
Place the entire pre-assembled cavity slider unit into the opening
-
Use a Level and check unit is plumb on both sides
-
Level across the top
-
Make sure Not twisted or bowed
TIP: Use wedges or packers at the base to lift the frame to level help level
-

Use a spirit level to check that the frame is perfectly vertical (plumb) and the head (top) of the frame is level
-
Adjust with shims or packers behind the jambs as needed
-

Fix the frame to the wall framing using screws through the shims
-
Start with the top screw, then check plumb again before fixing the bottom
-
Use long screws through the frame for extra strength
-

Slide the door open and closed to ensure:
-
Smooth, unimpeded movement
-
Consistent clearance at the head and floor
-
-
Adjust the hanger bolts (usually accessible through the top slot) to raise or lower the door if needed
-

If a soft close mechanism is installed, check its operation
-
Ensure the door closes softly and smoothly without slamming
-

Fill any gaps between the frame and wall with expanding foam or insulation
-
Trim off excess shims
-
Install architraves or trims to cover the gap between the frame and wall
-

Ensure all fixings are tight but not overdriven
-
Door slides freely and closes softly (if applicable)
-
Pocket and door are square and flush with surrounding finishes
-
