Clear Float Glass

  • Standard flat glass used in many doors and windows

  • Offers full visibility and natural light

  • Note: Must be toughened or laminated for safety in doors

Toughened Safety Glass

  • Heat-treated for extra strength

  • Shatters into small, blunt pieces if broken—safer than standard glass

  • Required by NZ Building Code for most exterior doors

Laminated Safety Glass

  • Two layers of glass bonded with a vinyl interlayer

  • Holds together when broken, improving safety and security

  • Also reduces UV and noise transmission

Double Glazing (IGUs)

  • Two panes of glass separated by a sealed air or gas-filled space

  • Improves thermal insulation and reduces condensation

  • Minimum requirement for new builds under NZ Building Code

Low-E (Low Emissivity) Glass

  • Coated to reflect heat while allowing light through

  • Enhances energy efficiency—keeps interiors warmer in winter and cooler in summer

Obscure or Frosted Glass

  • Textured or etched to provide privacy while still letting in light

  • Ideal for bathrooms, entry doors, or side panels

Tinted Glass

  • Reduces glare and solar heat gain

  • Offers added privacy and UV protection

Decorative or Leadlight Glass

  • Custom designs using coloured, bevelled, or patterned glass

  • Adds character and visual appeal to entry doors

Changing the glass in your exterior door can completely transform the look and feel of a space. From subtle texture to bold visual interest, the right glass choice adds depth and character. We source our glass from trusted suppliers: Glasslines, and Metro.
